What to look for
Insulated (vacuum double-wall): best for keeping drinks cold or hot, heavier. Lightweight plastic: lighter, less insulation, better for running. Wide vs narrow mouth: wide is easier to clean and fill with ice. Check whether the lid is truly leak-proof before buying for a bag.
Frequently asked
How much water should I drink per day?
NHS guidance: 6-8 glasses (about 1.5-2 litres) per day from all sources including food. More in hot weather or during exercise. Urine colour is the best indicator — pale straw yellow is well-hydrated; dark yellow means drink more.
Are aluminium water bottles safe?
Pure aluminium bottles should be lined with an epoxy or food-safe coating to prevent aluminium leaching. Most modern aluminium bottles are lined. Unlined aluminium reacts with acidic drinks (fruit juice, sports drinks) and is not recommended for those.
